Our Creation Story

We trade under both names of Community Energy Whāingaroa and Te Hiringa O Te Rā.

Te Hiringa O Te Rā literally means The Energy of The Sun. It was arrived at by a process of consulting with hapū members. It was gifted to us by Krishna Smith as it is a whanau name and is also in remembrance of one of Raglan’s most loved son’s who lost his life tragically – Rā.

The logo/hero is a reflection of our mission, vision, and business plan.  It incorporates elements of the programme that we want to acknowledge

Te Hiringa o Te Rā

Te Hiringa o Te Rā is the central generator of energy that causes the wind and supports all life on earth and therefore is depicted at the very centre of the image.
